A Different Kind of Women’s Wellness

What BalanceHER Is—and Is Not

Your body is not another problem to solve

BalanceHER is an original women-centred guidance programme created by Amanda Lan.

It helps women understand and support themselves through movement, breath, rhythm, Inner Silence and small practices that fit into daily life.

It is rooted in the women-centred Yuan Qi Qigong practice passed to Amanda more than 30 years ago.

But it is probably not what you expect from a wellness programme.

There are no miracle fixes.

No perfect routine.

And nobody is going to shout at you for missing Tuesday.

BALANCEHER BEGINS WITH A DIFFERENT QUESTION

Not “What is wrong with me?”

BalanceHER begins by asking:

What is my body telling me today?

Perhaps you feel heavy.

Scattered.

Restless.

Heated.

Tired.

Emotionally full.

Or simply disconnected from yourself.

BalanceHER teaches you to notice these signals without immediately treating yourself as broken.

Then you choose a small place to begin.

Feel your feet.

Take a breath.

Move.

Become quiet.

Notice what happens next.

WHAT BALANCEHER IS

A guidance programme for the whole woman

BalanceHER is broader than a movement class.

It explores the way a woman’s body, emotions, energy, identity and daily life meet.

The programme includes:

Yuan Qi Qigong

The deeper women-centred root of BalanceHER.

The practice values conservation as well as movement, stillness as well as action, and recognises that a woman does not have the same energy every day.

Harmony Flow Wellness Practices

The practical application of the method.

Harmony Flow brings together Feet Stamping, gentle movement, breathing, Inner Silence, self-acupressure, body awareness and everyday nourishment.

The 90-Second Concepts

Small pieces of practice that can be used inside ordinary life.

They are not the complete method.

They are doorways into it.

Women’s Life-Stage Awareness

BalanceHER recognises that women change through menstruation, caregiving, hormonal transitions, perimenopause, menopause, Second Spring and later life.

The practice changes with the woman.

Body-Led Learning

You are not asked to memorise everything before you begin.

You learn by noticing your body, trying a practice and recognising what feels useful.

FEET STAMPING

The rhythm that brought the work home

Feet Stamping is one of the most recognisable BalanceHER practices.

I did not invent stamping.

I also do not claim ownership of Khoe or San dances, rituals or cultural knowledge.

What I recognised was a relationship.

In South African dance traditions, I saw the power of rhythm, feet and connection with the ground.

It resonated with what I already understood through Yuan Qi Qigong, rooted Shaolin stance work and decades of movement teaching.

From that meeting, I developed the BalanceHER Feet Stamping practice.

It is not a copy of a sacred dance.

It is not a performance.

It is a simple, intentional way to bring attention back to the feet, weight, rhythm and present moment.

Sometimes you do not need another complicated explanation.

Sometimes you need to remember that the ground is still there.

WHAT BALANCEHER IS NOT

Let us clear up a few things

It is not medical treatment

BalanceHER does not diagnose, prescribe, cure or replace qualified medical care.

It offers general movement education, body awareness and everyday wellness guidance.

It is not anti-medicine

BalanceHER does not ask women to choose between traditional knowledge and appropriate modern healthcare.

There is room for medical diagnosis, treatment, traditional understanding and personal self-care—used responsibly and honestly.

It is not a supplement or product cure

There is no special powder, cream or bottle required before you can begin.

Your first tools are your feet, breath, hands, attention and body.

It is not a high-intensity workout

You are not pushed to exhaustion.

Some practices are strong.

Some are gentle.

Some barely look like exercise at all.

It is not a seven-day transformation

BalanceHER does not promise a new body, perfect hormones or permanent calm by next Friday.

The work grows through small actions and repeated returns.

It is not a seven-day transformation

BalanceHER does not promise a new body, perfect hormones or permanent calm by next Friday.

The work grows through small actions and repeated returns.

It is not a religion

BalanceHER draws on traditional philosophy, mythology and cultural stories, but it does not ask you to adopt another belief system.

You do not have to worship a goddess, follow Daoism or change your faith to practise.

The stories are invitations to think—not instructions about what you must believe.

It is not another standard of perfection

You, may forget.

Become distracted.

Lose your rhythm.

Eat biscuits for supper.

And begin again tomorrow.

That is not failure.

That is being human.

WOMEN-CENTRED FOR A REASON

The female body was not an afterthought

BalanceHER was created around women’s bodies, life stages and lived experiences.

It makes space for:

    • menstrual and hormonal change;
    • pregnancy and postpartum awareness;
    • caregiving and emotional labour;
    • perimenopause and menopause;
    • changing energy and identity;
    • breast, abdominal and pelvic awareness;
    • and the realities of ageing as a woman.

Some individual practices can be adapted for men or shared with family members.

Feet still need grounding.

Breath still needs space.

Everybody sometimes needs to become quiet.

But BalanceHER itself remains women-centred.

That is not exclusion.

It is clarity about who the programme was created to serve.

HOW BALANCEHER GUIDES YOU

Notice. Choose. Practise. Return.

Notice

Where is your body speaking today?

Choose

Begin with one relevant practice—not everything at once.

Practise

Use 90 seconds or stay for a longer Harmony Flow session.

Return

Notice what changes over time and come back when you need to.

BalanceHER does not give you more hours in the day.

It helps you become more present inside the time you already have.

TRADITION, EXPERIENCE AND RESEARCH

We do not put every ancient idea in a lab coat

BalanceHER draws from three different kinds of knowledge.

Traditional understanding

This includes Yuan Qi, Yin and Yang, meridians, the lower dantian, Inner Silence and the principles passed through traditional practice.

Lived and teaching experience

This comes from more than three decades of Amanda’s own practice, adaptation and work with women.

Modern research

Research continues to explore Qigong, breathing, movement, stress, sleep and women’s health.

Where evidence exists, we can discuss it.

Where it is still developing, we say so.

BalanceHER does not need to pretend that every traditional explanation has already been proven by modern science.

Tradition and research can speak to one another without pretending they are the same language.

WHERE THE METHOD CONTINUES

The roots, the practice and the map

The BalanceHER Journey book holds the complete foundation, ideas and wider women’s wellness journey.

Harmony Flow Wellness Practices bring the method into movement, breath, rhythm and daily life.

MapMeHealthy unpacks selected ideas into calm, practical online guidance.

You do not need to learn everything today.

Begin where your body is speaking.

FINAL WORD

You are not a problem waiting to be fixed

You are a woman living inside a body that changes.

A body with seasons.

Rhythms.

Memories.

Strength.

And its own ways of asking for attention.

BalanceHER helps you listen.

Then it gives you somewhere practical to begin.
